Saint Michael the Archangel help us in the struggle for Ukraine!
November 21 Christians celebrate the day of
the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael, and other Heavenly Powers.
Archangel Michael, whose name means "who is like God?" of "Who is
close to God" Is the commander of the Heavenly forces, so called
Archangel (Archistratege). When Lucifer, possessed by proud rebelled
against God and has led a lot of other spirits, then the holy Archangel
Michael appeared to the defender of God's glory, urged other angels to
rebel against evil and to be in subjection to the Lord. In church hymns
he called as the "Commander of angelic souls", "rebel of Three solar
deity". Today's celebration bears the name of the cathedral because on
this day are glorified all ethereal powers of heaven.
This holiday - most important of all the festivals in honor of the holy angels. In common parlance it is called Mikhail`s Day and very respected by religious people. Cathedral - reunification, the community of the holy angels led by Michael Archistratege which all together and unanimously praise the Holy Trinity, with one accord serve God. Archangel Michael - the commander of the Heavenly Forces, the icons represent him in menacing and militant form: helmet on his head in his hand - a sword or spear. Underfoot - a beaten dragon. With whom is fighting this same courageous leader? We know that whole of angelic world created before the creation of man and of all things visible world was endowed with great eternity and gifts. Angels, like humans, have free will. They could abuse this freedom of will and fall into sin. This has happened with one of the supreme angels - Lucifer (Denitsa), who discovered a source of evil and pride in himself and rebelled against his Creator. The spiritual world is reeled and some angels had followed by Lucifer. At this moment one from the angelic community, Archangel Michael said: "No one except God!" - Addressing this appeal to all the angels. With these words, he showed that recognizes only one single God, Creator and Lord of the whole universe. The fight was hard, because Lucifer was endowed with great advantages. But the forces of good won, and Lucifer was cast down from heaven, with all his followers. Archangel Michael established itself as the leader of all the angelic world, the faithful by God.
Since then, the sword in the hands of Michael, because Satan cast down from heaven, not complacent. Fallen angels are not allowed to penetrate into the higher regions of the universe and so they were determined all his rage against the people, and especially against the believers in God. Michael does not cease to fight against the angels of evil and darkness, protecting the faithful children of God from their wiles. And we should be happy that we have such a brave defender - the victorious leader of the Heavenly Forces. We must remember that his sword will always bring protection for us, unless we will enter into an alliance with those with whom fight Archangel Michael. Angels who remained faithful to his Creator, and which join the army the Archangel Michael, is so entrenched in the good that sin for them was impossible. Not because they are having free will can not transgress the will of God, but simply because they do not want to do it, do not want to sin. Do not wish to sin - is to be able to get closer to God and see Him as He sees angels. Serve Him by following His commands.
